On Tuesday a Minnesota woman was driving on U.S. Highway 10 when she noticed something unusual in her rear-view mirror: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

David Gowan had taken off in his 1979 Mooney from an airport in Hawley, MN planning to fly to Minot, ND, but was only able to climb to about 1,000 feet before the plane experienced engine failure. Gowan was forced to land on Highway 10, where the Mooney's prop made contact with the car.
Fortunately no one was injured. Had the prop made contact a few feet forward, things likely would have been quite different.

You know how insurance companies state your phone call may be recorded for future or training purposes? I would love to hear this one.

I think a family member had a Mooney many years ago. They're interesting with the forward-canted tailfin that most have. Apparently they more or less went on the rocks a few years ago, but got revived with Chinese funding.

I'd have assumed the propeller would have shattered when it hit the car, but I guess it just shredded that sheet metal instead.

Note to self: Jeep Grand Cherokee can be used as substitute for DC-10 nose gear.
